Russia, Kazakstan, Ukraine, Poland and the Netherlands

This month, we are praying and planning and strategizing our new Spring's tour to Russia, Kazakstan, Ukraine, Poland, and the Netherlands. It will be a long trip to minister in many countries.  We're asking God to make it clear where He wants us to be each weekend...There are so many requests and opportunities before us, but we want to be not "opportunistic" but careful to listen to God's leading every step of the way. Mother's Patience

Patience begins from a position of rest. Not rest from activity; not idleness, but soul rest where you are at peace. You will find patience when you stop fretting. Do little annoyances trigger your impatience? Then go back to that place where Jesus calls your soul to rest.   Isaiah 41:10; 30:15 "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. 15 This is what the Sovereign LORD, the... Read More

Expolit Spanish Convention

Today, I'm in Miami, Florida, at the Expolit Convention...a Spanish Christian gathering of publishers, media, bookstores...all who serve the Spanish-speaking community around the world. We've loved connecting with wonderful believers from all over Central and South America, Spain, and Mexico. Today, we spoke, with Celia and Tomas Robertson--our Kardo representatives from Uruguay--at a workshop to introduce Wisdom for Mothers and Wisdom for Fathers (Sabiduria para Madres y Sabiduria para... Speak Truth in Love

Mother-love is powerful. It shapes and forms how a child views himself. As much as we don’t like to admit it, we are tied to our mother’s hearts as we were once tied by a cord to her body. The language of love for each individual and each family is different. Learning to speak in the language of your child’s heart is a delight. We gently pour in faith, hope, and love where there is doubt and despair. We speak truth, but we speak it with tender love.   Ephesians 4:15. "Instead, speaking the... Read More

Love Perseveres

There’s nothing like feeding a new baby who is hungry. Watching them drain breast or bottle, there is something lovely about filling a desperate need. You and I know their hearts are even needier. “Watch me, Mom,” “Help me, Mom”, “Hold me, Mom,” “Mom, could you…” Yes, we are taken for granted. Yes, we give when it seems there is nothing left. Yes, we love.   I Corinthians 13:5, 7  Love…is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. It... Read More

Mother's Love

Remember the moment your eyes first met your offspring’s? Awe. Wonder. Fear. Love. Celebrate your mother-love. Choose to let it flow whether or not it is received or reciprocated. It is yours to give away!  I Corinthians 13:7. Love…bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.   Read More

May is Mother's Month

During the month of May, I'll be posting devotionals from our 31 Days to Celebrate Motherhood material. I'll be sharing some of what I've learned as a mom and grandmother as well as Scripture that has inspired and encouraged me along the way. Be sure to check back in often during May...mom's month! Resurrection Life is for all of us this Easter Season

If you’ve been traveling around our new Kardo website lately, you’ve probably noticed our tag line, “Hearts surrendered. Lives transformed.” As we get ready for Easter, I can’t help but think about all the ways we are seeing Christ's work in bringing resurrection life at conferences and bible studies around the world. I mentioned last week that we had an amazing Restore My Heart conference where women and their daughters gathered to hear about the love of their heavenly Bridegroom. We literally... Read More

We are Restored!

It's going to be hard to capture in a short blog what God did this past weekend in North Carolina at the Restore My Heart Conference. First, a young woman accepted Christ Friday night. The angels are singing and so are we! Secondly, young girls joined us for this conference and amazed me at their keen interest, hungry hearts, and beautiful faces. I LOVED spending time with them and watching God open their eyes to who they really are (toothbrushes and pickles...you had to be there!), and to... Read More

Restore My Heart in North Carolina this weekend

I leave in the morning for a Restore My Heart Retreat in Waynesville, North Carolina. I have loved revisiting the Restore material and God has spoken some fresh insights I can't wait to share... Read More

Round Top Retreat

Our time this weekend at the Round Top Retreat was an incredible experience in God's presence. We prayed, sang, laughed, cried, studied God's Word and listened for His voice. From the comments of several who went, we know God was working. He spoke individually and specifically to many of us, and He spoke to us as a group. One thing that was unmistakable this weekend is that our ministry needs to reach younger people in preparation for marriage and parenting. Another exciting thing that came... Read More

Looking into Abraham's worship

This week the Fan the Flame classes have been studying “Letting Go of the Priceless to take Hold of the Precious.” Looking into Abraham’s worship, we discovered the true worshiper he really was. What a good model for us! Check out Gen and start in Chapter 12, ending in Chapter 22 to see what Abraham and Sarah can teach us. Happy reading! Read More

Great time in Sacramento

We had an amazing time in Sacramento recently with 2000 Russian women and girls. Russians are warm and loving and so receptive to our message. They were a huge encouragement to our team. When I gave the altar call on Saturday, I tried to make it clear that there was no pressure to respond, they could stay in their seats or pray alone at the altar or they could come and pray with one of the designated ladies at the front. But as the music began, hundreds streamed down the aisle and began filling... Read More

God continues to answer prayers!

I want to document what God has done recently at the Kardo ministry. I don't want to forget the details of His intricate working in answer to our prayers. When I spoke at the Russian Conference in Sacramento, California, I was deeply touched by the Russian women's hunger for our materials and urging us to make more Russian books available here in the US and in Russia and Ukraine. When I told them we must pray for God's provision to reprint the books, I might have surprised them that... Read More

Thoughts on Fall 2011 - Blog 10

Our last stop was Frankfurt, Germany. We had a great time speaking for a couple’s event on marriage at Ramstein, where the American military base is located. Lots of Americans were there. They got a kick out of our Texas accents. David spoke for a Men’s Breakfast and I spoke for a Women’s Bible study. We also used our time in Germany to meet with a lovely lady from Poland who has been translating Wisdom for Mothers into Polish. The work is almost completed. We began to pray and strategize how... Thoughts on Fall 2011 - Blog 9

We see amazing opportunities in Kenya and trust the Lord to give us His direction in the days ahead for completing our assignments there. Thank you SO MUCH for all your prayers! God is richly blessing His work in Africa!  One day in Kenya, we spent time with our 10 yr old Compassion “daughter” from a village outside Nairobi. She is from the Masai tribe. Her mom accompanied her to see us along with two Compassion staff to translate for us. We were amazed at how well our little girl... Read More

Thoughts on Fall 2011 - Blog 8

Our time in Nairobi was so blessed! This was David’s first time in Kenya and we were so impressed with the wonderful leadership the Lord has given us with Joyce and Onesmus Weru.  Onesmus and Joyce are gifted in leadership and organizing events like we held in Kenya. I spoke to about 200 women launching the Freedom for Mothers materials.  A mission trip team from Johnson Ferry Baptist Church added  to the richness of this event. The message was well received because of the... Read More

Thoughts on Fall 2011 - Blog 7

We had lunches and dinners every time possible in Indonesia to continue strategic partnerships there and to discuss a process to give away books for free to poor men and women who cannot afford the materials. We want to see the books flowing out to the churches/individuals who need help obtaining them. We heard from a group who couldn't afford to buy their books and needed a sponsor. Miraculously,  our Kardo representative in Jakarta "bumped into" just the right person who gladly offered... Read More

Thoughts on Fall 2011 - Blog 6

We had left Papua with hearts very full. We then flew to Jakarta to begin a series of meetings there. Our first event was for 350 pastors, elders, deacons, women's leaders, and pastors wives from one denomination launching Freedom. The response was wonderful....as it would be when the organizers and a committee of 20 had been fasting and praying for weeks in advance. David and I spoke together and felt inspired (it had not been planned) at the end of the message to ask the couples to hold hands... Read More

Thoughts on Fall 2011 - Blog 5

By the time we arrived in Papua, my throat was sore and I had drainage. It felt like an allergic reaction...probably to smog and cigarette smoke and the mold in the buildings. I took Vit C in heaping quantities and allergy meds and prayed I could fight it off. By God’s grace, I did just fine during our conference in Papua. Our reception by the Papuans was astounding. Quite a cultural experience! It’s hard to describe, but I’ll try. They greeted us the first night of the conference dressed in... Read More

Thoughts on Fall 2011 - Blog 4

We safely arrived in Singapore and awaited our flight to Jakarta. God showered us with blessings on the flight. We each had 4 seats to ourselves on which to stretch out and nap! So we both felt great and were happy to be in the familiar surroundings of the Singapore Airport. It's more like a big mall than an airport, and we know our way around it pretty well. We left Singapore for Jakarta.  Before I move on to our next mission, I want to say "thank you, thank you, thank you!!!" to all our... Read More

Thoughts on Fall 2011 - Blog 3

David and I have both met with an amazing pastor here who has had some really important things to say to us on our journey with Christ. So God is growing us as we go and feeding us as we feed others. Our last weekend in Perth, I spoke for ladies at a Fri-Sun retreat (Secrets of Jesus) and David spoke for a men's breakfast. We both had incredible, amazing experiences over that weekend. He had 110 guys at the Men's Breakfast. He was able to share about radical faith and obedience, spiritual... Read More

Thoughts on Fall 2011 - Blog 2

We went to dinner one night at the home of David's former boss and his wife. They are lovely Christians and she had attended the filming of Fan the Flame. At dinner, she presented me with a beautiful quilt wall hanging she made, inspired from Fan the Flame! It is beautiful!! I had a rough night with headache, achiness, and nausea. We were both praying, as were people in Perth, and many of our readers who knew about it. We knew God was in control and we were confident in His provision. We... Read More

Thoughts on Fall 2011 - Blog 1

I want to share some cool things from the Around the World Mission trip we took this Fall. We had an incredible time in Perth, Australia, our first stop. David did a great job at Perth Prayer, the downtown prayer meeting he helped found while we lived there. It was great to see how it has grown from four men with a vision about three years ago, to the group of 60-75 who meet each week to worship during the lunch hour. My time with the Bread bible study was really special. We had all prayed... Read More
